His greatest inspirations come from drummer Sly Dunbar, Reggae great Dennis Brown, the talented American artist Stevie Wonder, and Tony DÕCosta. During this period he began to sing with sound systems such as King JammyÕs, Stereo Mar, and Stereo One. This encouraged him to continue singing and songwriting. TurnerÕs first release on vinyl came in 1983, and then again in 85 for producer Top Ranking. King JammyÕs recorded him in 1987, producing TurnerÕs first hit song I Need You, which was followed by hit after hit, including Run Around Girl and Tears. He has three albums to his credit between 1987 and 1989, One the Hard Way for King JammyÕs, Presenting Chuck TurnerÓ for Trump Jack, and ÒThen Trying to Conquer IÓ for Crat Productions. At the peak of a most promising career, 1989 proved to be a very trying year for this artist with two mishaps nearly taking his life both times. It has taken him three years to fully recover from what most would have never, but not to be discouraged he once more. has returned to his first love which is music. Here is an artist with a one of a kind voice, who must be given the chance to prove that singing and songwriting is his destiny, not only with Reggae, but in the R&B and Soul market as well. Admired by men and women alike for his cotton candy voice, smooth style, and originality, anyone hearing him song cannot deny that he is a great artist. Moreover, there are bigger and better things to come from Chuck Turner. Comfortable on stage as well as in the studio, he continues to do what he knows best....sing and write, no matter what, because he has a gift from God that he would like to share with the world. |
